Download & set up on your Mac

Everything you are licensed for sits in one folder. Read the five steps, download the app, then send me your machine ID for a licence code.

Setting up

Five steps, once per Mac
1

Pick the right file for your Mac

Apple menu About This Mac

If it says Chip: Apple M1 / M2 / M3 / M4, take the Apple Silicon file. If it says Processor: Intel, take the Intel one. The two are not interchangeable — the wrong one simply will not open.

CardVault-1.1.0-macOS-arm64.dmg  ·  CardVault-1.1.0-macOS-x86_64.dmg

Always take the newest version listed in What’s new.

2

Install it

Double-click the .dmg you downloaded. A window opens with the app on one side and an Applications folder on the other — drag the app onto Applications. That is the install.

Then eject the disk image (click the ⏏ beside it in Finder’s sidebar) and delete the .dmg if you like. The app now lives in Applications and opens from there or from Launchpad.

3

Open it the first time

The first launch is the one awkward moment. macOS will say the app “cannot be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software”. Nothing is wrong with it — these are custom-built tools made for you, and they do not carry a paid Apple certificate.

You only do this once per app. Which of these two you see depends on your macOS version:

Most Macs

Right-click (or Control-click) the app in Applications → Open → Open again in the dialog.

macOS 15 Sequoia and later

Try to open it once, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to the message about the app and click Open Anyway.

Double-clicking will not work until you have done this once. After that the app opens normally, every time, like any other.
4

Send me your machine ID

The app opens in your browser after a second or two. That tab is the app; it runs quietly on your own Mac, with nothing on screen behind it.

The first screen shows YOUR MACHINE ID. Click Copy and send that code to me so I can issue your licence.

5

Activate, then set your master password

I will send back a licence code. Paste it in and click Activate — the tool unlocks straight away.

One code covers every tool on your licence. Activate once and use the same code in the other tools. You do not need a separate licence per tool.

The licence is generated for that Mac only. If you move to another machine the same file will not activate — message me and I will issue a fresh licence. To check your licence later, or paste a renewal code, use the licence chip in the app header.

Each tool that holds your data then asks you to set a master password on first unlock. It encrypts everything on your Mac, and then you are free to start adding your details.

There is no reset, no recovery and no backdoor — deliberately. If you forget it, the data cannot be recovered by me or by anyone. Remember your master password and keep it somewhere safe.

While you are using it

Quit from inside the app. Use the power button at the top right — that locks your data and stops the tool. Just closing the browser tab leaves it running in the background.
Your data never leaves your Mac. Everything stays encrypted on your computer. No cloud, no account, nothing is sent anywhere.
Moving to a new Mac? Your cards live in Library → Application Support → YourCardJourney. Copy that folder across before the first launch and everything comes with you — still encrypted, still needing your master password. Dragging the app to the Trash never deletes it.
Hit a glitch? Send me a message — happy to sort it out.
